Trofie al pesto


Here's an oldie: the ancient Romans used to eat a similar paste, called moretum. Then the Ligurians started to make "agliata", a mash of garlic and walnuts in the Middel Ages and then added basil, the main ingredient of modern pesto, in the mid-19th century.
